What is counted

One record is one organisation or one establishment, named and located, taken from OpenStreetMap or from a public register or directory. It is not a count of the companies of the country.

Where the data comes from

Most records come from OpenStreetMap (ODbL). Complementary public registers and directories (Ajman Data, higher-education register, listed companies, public bodies, Chamber of Commerce members) are added with their terms of reuse recorded; lists whose terms are still being verified appear as aggregated counts only.

Emirates

The emirate is the one in which the OpenStreetMap object is located, taken from the administrative boundaries of the seven emirates.

Activity groups

Records are grouped into 14 groups from the tags of the source (shop, amenity, office, craft, industrial, healthcare, tourism). The grouping is ours and is not the official ISIC classification.

Free zones

A zone is indicated only when its name appears in the published name or address. No official boundary is used.

Exclusions

Records whose name looks like a person, police and military objects, and personal mailboxes are excluded from the counts. Cells below 5 are hidden.

Freshness

Figures are recomputed after each load and carry their counting date.
